Saying that he's a big fan of 'Portal' game series, del Toro reveals that GLaDOS' voice will be used in the entire movie as well, but her voice will be 'slightly' altered.

AceShowbiz - After a series of speculations that Guillermo del Toro was using GLaDOS' voice in "Pacific Rim" trailer, the director finally confirmed that the rumor was true. The filmmaker admitted that he's a big fan of the "Portal" game series and said that the GLaDOS voicer, Ellen McLain, would indeed lend her voice to A.I. in his upcoming monsters vs. robots film.

In a recent interview with Toronto Sun, del Toro explained how he approached "Portal" developers, Valve, just to get the license to use GLaDOS' voice in the trailer. "I wanted very much to have her, because I'm a big 'Portal' fan," said the 48-year-old Mexican director. "But just a as a wink. She's not cake-obsessed. She's not out to destroy humanity."

Though the GLaDOS voice was clearly recognizable in the trailer, del Toro claimed that her voice would be tweaked when the entire movie comes out in theaters Stateside this July 12. "I said, 'Look, there's no A.I. I'd rather have than GLaDOS," he stated. "The filter we're using is slightly less GLaDOS. Slightly. The one in the trailer I wanted to be full-on GLaDOS."

In "Pacific Rim", legions of monstrous creatures known as Kaiju start rising from the sea. To combat the monsters, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge.

A washed up former pilot named Raleigh Antrobus and an untested trainee called Mako Mori team up to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind's last hope when Kaiju aim to take millions of lives and consume humanity's resources for years on end.

Starring as Antrobus is Charlie Hunnam, while Rinko Kikuchi tackles the part of Mori. They are joined by Idris Elba as General Stacker Pentecost, and Charlie Day as Newt Gotlieb. The script is penned by Travis Beacham.
