Three Actors Circling Drax the Destroyer Role in 'Guardians of the Galaxy'

Isaiah Mustafa, Brian Patrick Wade and Dave Bautista are reportedly in negotiations to play the alter ego of Arthur Douglas, while John Krasinski is the latest name rumored to play Peter Quill.
Three Actors Circling Drax the Destroyer Role in 'Guardians of the Galaxy'

While the leader of "" has yet to be found, a new casting rumor emerges, revealing possible candidates to play Drax the Destroyer in the upcoming Marvel movie. Sharing the news is Comic Book Movie, which claims to have obtained some info that three buffed actors are in the running to play the alter ego of Arthur Douglas.

According to the site, Isaiah Mustafa, Brian Patrick Wade and are all in negotiations with the studio to tackle the part of Drax. No official words have been released to confirm or clarify the report.

Mustafa, a former NFL practice squad wide receiver, is widely known as the main character for a series of Old Spice TV commercials. Wade, meanwhile, is known for his role in 2006's "". As for former WWE star Bautista, he recently starred in 's "".

For those unfamiliar with Drax, the character was originally an ordinary man named Arthur Douglas, whose family was killed by Thanos. Needing a champion to combat the Mad Titan, a being known as Kronos took Arthur's spirit and placed it in a powerful new body, and Drax the Destroyer was born.

In another "Guardians" casting news, it is also said that has been added to the list of contenders to play Peter Quill a.k.a Star-Lord. Still, there's no guarantee if the "" star would win the role since there are already a host of actors lining up for the coveted part.

The "Guardians of the Galaxy" film project has hired James Gunn as the director and Black List scribe Chris McCoy as the screenwriter. The movie reportedly will follow a far-future story revolving around a group of alien beings - each the last of their kind - who eventually travel back in time to protect the earth from alien invasion. Marvel plans to release the flick Stateside on August 1, 2014.
