Originally scheduled to close February 24, the Theresa Rebeck comedy will now end its run on January 6.

AceShowbiz - Katie Holmes will end her latest Broadway gig earlier than it was expected. Producers announce that her play "Dead Accounts" will close on Sunday, January 6, seven weeks ahead of its original schedule which was February 24.

"I am extremely proud of this production and the cast," producer Jeffrey Finn says in a statement. "Theresa Rebeck and Jack O'Brien have created an inspiring and hilarious new play and we are all sad to see 'Dead Accounts' end on Broadway. I look forward to working with this remarkably talented cast and creative team again very soon."

Written by Rebeck and directed by O'Brien, the comedy received mixed reviews when it premiered November 29. The play, which also stars Judy Greer, Jayne Houdyshell, Josh Hamilton and Norbert Leo Butz, will have played 27 preview and 44 regular performances at the Music Box Theatre by the time it pulls down the final curtain.

"Dead Accounts" marks Holmes' return to Broadway following her Broadway debut in 2008 through "All My Sons". She once said of people's response to the highly-anticipated premiere, "You know, it feels really exciting. So many friends and family were here supporting and that means so much. And this cast is so wonderful. It's just a real pleasure to be part of this."
