Christopher McQuarrie Shares Updates on 'Mission: Impossible V'
Movie

Confirming that he's in talks to direct the next Enthan Hunt movie, the 'Jack Reacher' helmer also dishes on his wish to top the Burj Khalifa stunt in 'Ghost Protocol'.

AceShowbiz - Back in November, words ran rampant that Christopher McQuarrie was approached to direct "Mission: Impossible V". While the report has yet to be confirmed, MTV News reaches out to the "Jack Reacher" helmer and asks some updates on the project from him.

"We've been talking about it, yes," McQuarrie coyly says of his potential involvement in the forthcoming Tom Cruise-starring actioner. "We're figuring it out right now. I'm looking at pictures from all over the world and just deciding what invites action."

During the chat, McQuarrie also shares that he wishes to best the death-defying stunt on world's tallest building Burj Khalifa in "Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol", which was directed by Brad Bird. He jokes, "Hopefully somebody is building a taller building right now."

Paramount has made"MI:5" one of its top priorities though the project is likely still a long way to go. Cruise himself is equally excited about the next chapter in the Ethan Hunt saga and he recently shared that he already had some ideas for the concept of the upcoming movie.

"We're already working on different images. Talking conceptually," he told Total Film. "I love traveling around promoting different movies because I'm always looking at different places, and I always walk around to see the city. I look at architecture, subways... coming up with different sequences."

The last installment of the franchise took in $209,3 million domestically and $693 million worldwide, making it the highest-grossing film in the series. It also became the highest-grossing Cruise-starring movie, knocking down 2005's "War of the Worlds".

Should McQuarrie seal the deal with Paramount, he will reunite with Cruise after working together in "Jack Reacher" which has just been released Stateside. The novel-adapte movie, however, couldn't claim the top spot of box office since it only grossed around $15.6 million on its debut weekend.
