Prince Tribute to Be Staged at Carnegie Hall

The upcoming all-star concert on March 7, 2013 is set to honor the renowned musician.

Grammy-winning singer/songwriter will be honored in an all-star concert from the Carnegie Hall in Midtown Manhattan in New York City on March 7, 2013. The special tribute for the renowned musician is the 7th in a series of tribute concerts that are set to raise funds for music education programs for underprivileged youth.

Prince is the latest in the list of legendary rockers honored in the annual Carnegie Hall concert produced by philanthropist and impresario Michael Dorf. , and are among the artists who have received the iconic Carnegie Hall tribute in the past. Other popular acts who have been honored include singer-songwriter/multi-instrumentalist , English singer/pianist and rock band . The legendary and English rock band have likewise been feted at past sold-out Carnegie Hall shows.

"Prince is one of the most prolific songwriters in my collection," said Dorf about the pop-rock superstar, "and he makes my Top 10 when I think about the artists who have truly shaped modern music. In re-listening to his repertoire I realized how relevant, amazing, and danceable his work is. Carnegie Hall is going to party!"

Prince has produced ten platinum albums and thirty Top 40 singles in his music career. He has his own recording studio label and writes, self-produces and plays most, if not all, of the instruments on his recordings.

Dorf's shows have raised over $700,000 for music education programs that benefit underprivileged youth. The line-up of performers for the Prince tribute is yet to be disclosed.
