Stating that he has agreed to accept Sylvester Stallone's invitation to join the star-studded action film franchise, Chan adds that he wants the third installment to be a 'buddy-buddy' movie.

AceShowbiz - In contrary to his previous announcement that he planned to quit action movie world, Jackie Chan confirmed that he would be involved in "The Expendables 3". The veteran Hong Kong star announced the good news when attending a recent press junket of his new movie "Chinese Zodiac" a.k.a "CZ12" in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
"Sly had invited me to be in 'Expendables 2' but I was too busy filming 'CZ12' and couldn't make a commitment to the film," the 58-year-old actor said, as quoted by Cinema Online. "But he did extend his invitation to the third movie, which I agreed on the condition that I will be appearing as more than just a minor role with a few scenes."
Chan additionally said that he had asked Stallone to make the third chapter of "The Expendables" series more of a "buddy-buddy" movie and Sly had considered it. The script is currently being worked in order to meet the criteria.
In addition to confirming his involvement in "Expendables 3", the star of "The Karate Kid" stated that he'd been preparing himself to star in "Skip Tracer", which is a reminiscent of the "Rush Hour" film franchise.
"The script is currently viewed by Chris Tucker," he shared. "Personally, I feel that if he were to pick it up, it would be better if we turned it into 'Rush Hour 4' but I do think that three movies for the franchise is a perfect ending. It would be better to start a new buddy movie with someone new."
Chan also has "Police Story 2013" project and a musical tentatively called "I Am Jackie Chan" lining up on his list. With the tight schedule, it seems that his previous announcement about retiring from action movie world has now become obsolete. Chan himself admitted he had a change of heart as asking, "What am I supposed to do if I stop making movies?"
"Which is why, I will make an amendment to my announcement," he continued. " 'CZ12' will be my last big action movie. I won't be able to complete every stunt myself now and will probably relax a bit in that area by using CG effects in the future. But I will never quit movies."
Back in May, Chan announced that he would quit action movies to become "the Asian Robert De Niro." "I tell you, I am not young any more ... I am really, really tired. The world is too violent now. It's a dilemma because I like action, but I don't like the violence," he said.
"I don't just want to be an action star ... I want to be a true actor. I want to be an Asian Robert De Niro. I want to get rid of my image," he added. "So, for the last ten years I've done other films like 'The Karate Kid' where I'd rather play an old man. I want the audience to know I'm not just about fighting or comedy, also I can act."
