Satellite Awards 2012: 'Silver Linings Playbook' Wins All Top Categories in Movie

The David O. Russell-directed dramedy bags the coveted Best Motion Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Editing awards.

The 17th annual Satellite Awards has unveiled its winners during a ceremony on Sunday evening, December 17 held at the Intercontinental Hotel in Beverly Hills. Becoming the top winner at the awards show was David O. Russell's dramedy "" with a total of five gongs.

The film about love and mental illness swept all the coveted categories, including Best Motion Picture, Best Director for Russell, Best Actor for , and Best Actress for . Jay Cassidy and Crispin Struthers also shared the Best Editing trophy for their work in the movie.

"" had its first prize during this busy awards season as its villain, , claimed the Best Supporting Actor title. On the other hand, Tom Hooper's "" brought in taking home the Best Supporting Actress award thanks to her dramatic role as Fantine.

The highly-praised musical drama also snatched two other awards; Best Song for "Suddenly" and Motion Picture Ensemble. Ang Lee's "" was another winner with multiple awards that night. The visually-stunning survival drama bagged Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Cinematography.

During the event, which was presented by the International Press Academy, "" received two Special Achievement Awards. Its young lead actress brought home the Newcomer Award, while its helmer Benh Zeitlin was honored with Humanitarian Award.
