Mexican singer is now confirmed dead after her remains were recovered overnight in Northern Mexico. Authorities also said on Tuesday, December 11 that remains of the other six passengers of the crashed Learjet25 were also found and had been taken to a Mexican forensics facility.

Rivera, her make-up artist, publicist, lawyer and the plane's crew boarded the plane at 3:30 A.M. on Sunday. After ten minutes, the airport officials lost contact with the pilots. The wreckage was later found in the northern state of Nuevo Leon and the damage was so severe that officials could not confirm the death toll immediately.

However, the National Transportation Safety Board, suspected on Monday that no one survived the accident. "Everything points to that this is the plane," said Gerardo Ruiz Esparza, minister of transportation and communications. "This is what's so regrettable, that it was so badly destroyed that there's nothing recognizable."

Rivera's driver license was later found among the debris. Meanwhile, investigation still continues on what caused the crash. One thing for sure, the 1969 aircraft was badly damaged in a 2005 landing but was later cleared to fly again.

Rivera's family had initially refused to believe that Rivera is dead. "In our eyes, we still have faith that my sister will be OK. We have no confirmation of her body being recovered, dead or alive," singer's brother Juan told reporters. He later tweeted, "My sister is still ALIVE! Until I have her body in my hands I will keep saying she LIVES. NOTHING has been CONFIRMED YET."

On Tuesday morning, Rivera's other brother Lupillo tweeted that he will be back from Mexico with the remains of the singer for burial in Southern California. "Mom...I'm going to bring you your daughter home, I will bring my nephews and nieces their mother. to fans a great lady!!!!!!!" he wrote in Spanish.
