Possible Details of First 'Thor: The Dark World' Footage Revealed
While "Thor: The Dark World" hasn't even finished filming, possible details on some scenes in the movie have gone online. Per Comic Book Movie, Marvel's International Vice President, Nigel Cook, reportedly attended the "Professional Cinema Days in Sorrento" convention in Italy, where he debuted the first footage of the "Thor" sequel.
According to the site, the footage begins with [SPOILER ALERT!] a voice-over as the God of Thunder is sealing an oath as the new supreme ruler. Then, it sees "a clash between Thor and the enemy army, in a world that is neither Asgard let alone the Earth." In the scene, Chris Hemsworth's Thor is featured wielding his trusty hammer, while Tom Hiddleston's Loki is wounded without a helmet with a long loose hair before he gets imprisoned.
Though it's unclear as to why Loki is imprisoned, the site states that "his anger increasingly desperate and irrational. Then there's a scene later in which he is free again, but still furious." The scene then cuts into a forest backdrop, where there are a lot of "anthropomorphic creatures, but also a big 'gorilla' krosan tusker" and some mysterious people "with oval face and black eyes, elongated and sunken."
The rest of the footage unveils glimpses of Asgard, featuring Anthony Hopkins' Odin and Natalie Portman's Jane Foster who is clad in a princess-like outfit. Also shown in the clip are shots of "an epic battle on horseback, who seems to have left an epic cloak-and-dagger." Meanwhile, an irregularly-shaped spaceship appears, seemingly ready to spread terror in Asgard. The other sequences see Jane and Thor "lying on the ground, probably overwhelmed in a clash."
After showing the footage, Cook reportedly told the audience that the adventure in "Thor 2" will begin and end on Earth. He also gushed that the sets built and used for the movie were the biggest ones that had ever been built for a Marvel Studios film. During the presentation, Cook also expressed concern that the second God of Thunder film might not get the same attention as next year's "Iron Man 3", which would take place a year after the event in "The Avengers".
In "Thor 2", the son of Odin must save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel's "Thor" and "The Avengers", the Asgardian hero fights to restore order across the cosmos, but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness.
Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all. The movie will hit the U.S. theaters on November 8, 2013.
