Man Planning to Open Fire During 'Breaking Dawn Part II' Screening Gets Arrested
A Missouri young man was arrested by cops after admitting to have a twisted plan to shoot the people watching "The Twilight Saga's Breaking Dawn Part II" screening this coming weekend. Blaec Lammers was taken into custody after his mother alerted the authorities about the possible attack.
The mother informed the police that her 20-year-old son had bought weapons resembling those used in the Aurora, Colo. tragic shooting that killed 12 people and injured many others. She's worried that he might try to recreate "The Dark Knight Rises" mass shooting spree last summer.
In an interview with police, Blaec said he purchased two assault rifles for hunting. He, however, admitted he had bought tickets to the Sunday, November 18 screening of the final "Twilight" movie series and planned to open fire inside the theater with his guns.
"Blaec Lammers stated that he had a lot in common with the people that have been involved in those shootings. Blaec Lammers states that he was quiet, kind of a loner, had recently purchased firearms and didn't tell anybody about it, and had homicidal thoughts," the police said in a statement.
Blaec additionally confessed to the authorities that he also considered to pay a local Walmart a visit and planned an armed attack inside the store. "If he ran out of ammunition he would be able to break the glass where the ammunition is stored and get more," the cops explained his chilling thought.
The man additionally admitted to the investigators that he had wanted to stab a Walmart employee to death a few years ago. He followed an employee around a Walmart store but failed to execute his plan because police officers got involved in 2009.
Blaec purchased one firearm on Monday and another on Tuesday. He had already bought 400 rounds of ammunition and had gone to Aldrich, a nearby town, to practice shooting because he "had never shot a gun before and wanted to make sure he knew how they shot and how they functioned."
Following his confessions to the cops, Blaec is charged with first-degree assault, making a terroristic threat and armed criminal action. He is being held on a $500,000 bond and will likely make his first court appearance next Wednesday, November 21.
Polk County prosecutor Ken Ashlock said he would seek a mental examination of Blaec since he wasn't aware of the 2009 Walmart incident mentioned by Blaec. Reportedly, Blaec is under a doctor's care for mental illness, but he has been "off of his medication."
"It was a good thing they found what they found and took care of it," Ashlock said. "Everything was there as far as the weapons. He did have the weapons; he did have the ammunition ... Those things were all there, and then he made the statements to the officer about what his plans were."
