Dane DeHaan and Alden Ehrenreich Up for Harry Osborn Role in 'Amazing Spider-Man 2'

Aside from the 'Chronicle' actor and the 'Beautiful Creatures' star, 'Melancholia' actor Brady Corbet is also in the running to play Norman Osborn's son in the upcoming Marc Webb-directed film.

Details of "" are still unclear until now, but it has been long rumored that the film will feature some iconic characters from the Spidey comics including Mary Jane Watson, villainous Electro and Harry Osborn. Adding fuel to the speculation, The Hollywood Reporter shares the words that Sony Pictures is testing some young actors to tackle the part of Norman Osborn's son.

While and are reportedly cast as M.J. and Electro respectively, it is now said that "" star and "" actor are in the mix for the part of Harry. Also being considered to play Peter Parker's friend-turned-nemesis is "" star Brady Corbet.

According to insiders, the studio initially wanted to cast a bigger, athletic actor as Harry Osborn. However, the character was later being reconfigured and the studio is now targeting a "dark and edgy" thesp to tackle the part. The three names aside, there could be other actors in the running for the coveted part since the character is still evolving.

The Harry Osborn role could be an opportunity for any of the chosen actor to launch their career. The character himself was previously made famous by in Sam Raimi's "" trilogy.

Son of Norman Osborn, Harry was a best friend of Peter when they were in college. Following his father's death, Harry turned into the second Green Goblin and became one of Spider-Man's deadliest enemies. Director Marc Webb recently said, "I'm fascinated by Norman Osborn and the different inflections of him. And Harry. Mary Jane and Gwen are always interesting to me."

To bring back and as Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy respectively, the sequel to this summer's "" is slated for a May 2, 2014 release Stateside.
