Michael Bay Hints Mark Wahlberg Could Be Cast in 'Transformers 4' After All

November 8, 2012, 2:23 am GMT

Indicating a change of heart after denying Wahlberg's casting rumor, Bay says he reconsiders casting the 'Pain and Gain' actor for 'T4' thanks to 'that very internet chatter.'

Michael Bay seems to have changed his mind about casting Mark Wahlberg for "Transformers 4". After brushing off reports that he was considering his "Pain and Gain" actor to lead the next "Transformers" movie, Bay now indicates that he has a change of heart thanks to the internet chatter.

"I squashed a rumor that was on the internet last week. It was about Mark Walhberg," so Bay writes on his personal website. "Mark was rumored to be staring in Transformers 4. We are working on another movie together, not T4."

He continues, "I had such a great time working with Mark on Pain and Gain, and he gave such a great performance - well let's say that very internet chatter gave me some ideas. We are at the inception of our story process right now on T4. Let's say some ideas are gaining traction with me and my writer - so I'm here to say thanks internet chatter."

In late October, Twitch sparked the rumor that Wahlberg was up to star in the upcoming fourth autobot war film. A few hours after the report broke, Bay took to his page to debunk it, insisting, "The Mark Wahlberg T4 rumor is just a rumor. Mark and I are talking about another film project."

Details of "T4" are still scarce until now, but it has been speculated that the film will feature a female lead. "The new female lead that they are looking for is a high school senior and her boyfriend a Texas racing driver," so Spoiler TV shared last month. There's still no official word from Bay to confirm the scoop.

"Transformers 4" is already slated for a June 26, 2014 release in theaters across the United States. Before jumping into "T4", Bay will wrap his passion project "Pain and Gain" with the "Ted" actor and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. The two will play bodybuilders who engaged in a campaign of kidnapping, extortion and murder in Florida.
