The singer took three prizes, including Best Album, and joined Labrinth, Nicki Minaj, JLS as well as Rita Ora among the top winners of the awards night.

AceShowbiz - It was an impressive night for Scottish singer-songwriter Emeli Sande as she won top prizes at the recently concluded Music of Black Origin (MOBO) Awards 2012 held last November 3 at Liverpool's Echo Arena. Sande was named Best Female Act, Best R'n'B/Soul Act, and Best Album for her work on "Our Version of Events".

The "Next to Me" hitmaker was extremely honored in bagging the three awards during the event's 17th year run. "I really wanted to win best album. Getting that, it means the work you're making people are acknowledging as important," Sande said.

Other artists who brought home trophies were JLS with Best Video for "Do You Feel What I Feel", Rita Ora with Best Newcomer, Plan B with Best Male Act and Best Hip Hop/Grime, and Sande's close collaborator, Labrinth, who won Best Song for his hit single "Earthquake". American rapstress, Nicki Minaj, was named Best International Act.

This year's MOBO night also honored TLC with the Outstanding Contribution to Music award, and Dionne Warwick, who received the MOBO Lifetime Achievement Award.

Miquita Oliver and BAFTA-winning actor Adam Deacon served as the hosts with Trey Songz, Conor Maynard, Emeli Sande, Labrinth, Wiley, and new artists such as Misha B, who performed her debut single "Home Run", Angel and Stooshe, who delivered a rendition of the TLC hit "Waterfalls", as musical performers.
