Bethenny Frankel Donates $50,000 to Help Hurricane Sandy Victims

The 'Bethenny Ever After' star donates the money to the Red Cross to support hurricane relief effort in New Jersey.

is one of the artists who show sympathy for the sitting targets of superstorm Sandy. An insider revealed to Us Weekly that the reality TV star entrusted $50,000 to the Red Cross to help the victims of the massive disaster in New Jersey.

"Bethenny is an East Coast girl and hopes the stream of donations from people all over America and the world will reach those affected, save more lives and help build back the East Coast," the insider explained. "It is so important in times like this that we come together and help in any way we can."

On November 2, Bethenny tweeted "We'll rebuild! @gatorlove: RT @usweekly: Find out how NYer @Bethenny is giving back after Hurricane #Sandy," while giving a link to an article reporting about her donation.

The "" star's company, Skinnygirl Cocktails, also gave the same amount of money to the Red Cross to match her donation. Additionally, Skinnygirl Daily allotted 5,000 of its On-the-Go nutrition bars valued at $10,000 to help the hurricane relief effort.

The author of New York Times best-seller book "A Place of Yes: 10 Rules for Getting Everything You Want Out of Life" expressed her sympathy for the hurricane victims on Tuesday, October 30. She tweeted, "We just woke up. So sad about all of the terrible deaths and tragedies. Love & prayers to your families. Is hurricane sandy over?"

She then tweeted, "The evacuation at Nyu langone hospital is devastating. They still have to remove 45 people. How scary and sad?" Later, she added, "Sandy is the definition of a s*** storm. #sandyisashitstorm."

On Thursday, November 1, she wrote on Twitter, "The only bright light during the stress of sandy is that I've been w my family 24 hrs a day for a week." The host of "Bethenny" also urged her fans to donate to Red Cross by tweeting on the following day, "Please give back to the tri-state area that has given so much to us @RedCross simply Txt REDCROSS 90999 to make a $10 donation."
