NBC will attempt to raise money for Red Cross through a relief effort concert supported by musicians as well as show hosts.

AceShowbiz - NBC is mulling a telethon for Hurricane Sandy relief effort. Joining the cause are Christina Aguilera, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Bon Jovi, Sting and Billy Joel. These artists will perform in a charity concert that will benefit the victims of the storm that wrecked the Northeast.
"Hurricane Sandy: Coming Together" will air Friday, November 2 at 8 P.M. ET on NBC Universal networks such as Bravo, CNBC, E!, G4, MSNBC and USA. NBC Universal said that channels not owned by the company will also be allowed to broadcast the concert.
Held at NBC's Rockefeller Plaza studios, the show will be hosted by Matt Lauer and feature as well appearances by Jimmy Fallon and "NBC Nightly News" anchor Brian Williams.
More than 70 people were killed in the U.S. due to the storm, while some 20,000 others lose their home and struggle to survive. Donations can be made by visiting RedCross.org, calling 1-800-RED-CROSS or texting REDCROSS to 90999. The money collected from the telethon would be donated to the American Red Cross which provide food, shelter and other supports for those affected.
Bon Jovi's frontman Jon Bon Jovi is one artist having a close experience to the disaster. He canceled a press junket in London to fly back to United States. "I really need to get back home having spoken to my wife and kids who are stuck in New York, I need to be with my people. Thankfully, my family is safe," he said.
NBC organized a similar benefit for Hurricane Katrina victims back in 2005 and managed to raise $50 million for the Red Cross.
