A female songwriter named Allyson Nichole Burnett from Alabama claims that the hit single released last June was copied from her original work.

AceShowbiz - Singers Carly Rae Jepsen and Owl City's Adam Young are named in a new copyright infringement lawsuit filed recently in a California federal court. The suit was filed by Alabama-based singer-songwriter, Allyson Nichole Burnett.
In her lawsuit, Burnett claims that the song "Good Time", which Young, Matthew Thiessen and Brian Lee wrote, was patterned on a prominent motif of her 2010 song called "Ah, It's a Love Song". Burnett further explained that the hook in the song is a "unique vocal motif" that is repeated throughout the song and "has a catchy pop vibe that both draws people in and sticks in people's heads."
The disputed song was a Jepsen and Young duet released last June and made it to No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100. It also received significant airplay as it was repeatedly heard during the NBC broadcast of the 2012 Summer Olympics. Other sources also reported that shows like "90210", "Parks and Recreation" and "The Office" played Burnett's song and was also featured in the trailer ads for the film "Hotel Transylvania".
Burnett stated that she has "suffered emotional and psychological damage" since fans have been accusing her of copying the "Good Time" hit single.
Others dragged into the lawsuit are Universal Music Group, Songs Music Publishing and Schoolboy Records. ASCAP and SESAC, which are involved in collecting performance royalties, were also specified as defendants. There have been no comments yet from Jepsen and Young on the issue.
