One Direction Singing a Different Tune in New Single 'Little Things'

The Ed Sheeran-penned track is a sweet ballad, which will not fail to please the British boyband's loyal fans.

British boyband, One Direction, have just premiered their new single "Little Things" from their yet-to-be-released album "Take Me Home" out on November 13. Singer and songwriter, Ed Sheeran, who has also worked with country princess Taylor Swift, wrote the acoustic ballad for the band and said that it showed a new side of the boys.

"Little Things" is a far cry from One Direction's recent upbeat single "Live While We're Young", taken from the same album. It opens with a melodic guitar play and soft, yearning vocals, which is reminiscent of the track "Moments" from their 2011 LP debut entitled "Up All Night".

Writer Sheeran explained that the band members wanted to slow things down a little and were trying to give their listeners variety. "I think they just wanted to try something different. I think they did the same formula with the last single - it sounded like a One Direction song - and now I think they want to switch it up a bit," he commented.

The song begins with the touching lyrics: "Your hand fits in mine like it's made just for me." With words such as these, "Little Things" is expected to not only dominate the airwaves and iTunes, but also melt the hearts of a lot of 1D fans who are eagerly waiting for the album. Band member, Niall Horan is equally excited and tweeted on Wednesday, October 25, "Listened to a few songs on take me home this morning! I literally cannot wait for the release date!"
