Michael Bay Clarifies Mark Wahlberg's Casting Report in 'Transformers 4'

Bay insists that Wahlberg is not in talks to star in the fourth 'Transformers' film, but teases that they both are 'talking about another film project.'

AceShowbiz - A casting rumor for "Transformers 4" had sparked online frenzy earlier on Tuesday, October 23. Twitch shared the words that Mark Wahlberg was up to star in the upcoming fourth autobot war film by director Michael Bay. However, the filmmaker himself quickly broke silence to clarify the swirling report, confirming that there's no truth in the casting news.

Taking to his personal blog shortly after the news broke, the "Armageddon" helmer debunked the rumor as claiming, "The Mark Wahlberg T4 rumor is just a rumor." Still, he let another speculation arouse by mentioning that "Mark and I are talking about another film project." He didn't reveal further details on the other project with Wahlberg.

Wahlberg's casting rumor came hot on heels of recent speculation that "T4" might have two lead characters. The speculation sparked after Spoiler TV revealed a spoilerish scoop from the movie's casting call. It was said that "the new female lead that they are looking for is a high school senior and her boyfriend a Texas racing driver."

As for Wahlberg, the "Ted" actor has recently worked with Bay in "Pain and Gain". Starring opposite Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, he played a bodybuilder who engaged in a campaign of kidnapping, extortion and murder in Florida. The film was Bay's passion project that he would like to finish before jumping into "T4".

"Transformers 4" itself is already slated for a June 26, 2014 release in theaters across the United States.
