Paramount Takes 'Wolf of Wall Street' for Domestic Distribution

The Leonardo DiCaprio-starrer will be released in North America in the fourth quarter of 2013.

AceShowbiz - Martin Scorsese's "The Wolf of Wall Street" is now officially on the go since Paramount Pictures has signed up to be the distributor in North America, Deadline confirmed. For the studio, the movie starring Leonardo DiCaprio as Jordan Belfort could be their award-season ammo post the the pic's late 2013 release.

Financed by Red Granite, "Wolf of Wall Street" was first developed by Warner Bros. before the deals went down. The movie is being shot in New York using the script from Terry Winter of "Boardwalk Empire". Alexandra Milchan is executive producing the film while Scorsese, DiCaprio, Emma Koskoff Tillinger and Red Granite's Riza Aziz and Joey McFarland are producing.

"The Wolf of Wall Street" is based on the memoirs of Jordan Belfort, a former Wall Street trader whose acumen and hedonistic ways led him on a tumultuous ride. The Long Island penny stockbroker served 20 months in prison for refusing to cooperate in a massive 1990s securities fraud case that involved widespread corruption on Wall Street and in the corporate banking world, including mob infiltration.

Jonah Hill, Matthew McConaughey and Jean Dujardin are also in the cast list. DiCaprio last starred for Scorsese in the 2010 thriller "Shutter Island" which was distributed domestically by Paramount.
