Gilles and Shawn are tied for first place in the fourth week which has 'surprise' dance theme, while Kirstie Alley lands on the bottom of the scoreboard.

AceShowbiz - Following the double eliminations last week, "Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars" returned with the remaining 9 couples who performed dances picked by one another last week. From Mambo to Bollywood, all the "surprise" numbers were rarely seen or even never seen on the show.

Kirstie Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy came out first that night, dancing a Charleston. "You turn Monday into a fun-day," Len Goodman said, but added, "I would have liked it a little cleaner here or there." Carrie Ann Inaba also sang praise, "Your dancing is fabulous - you were playing to your strengths." Despite the mostly positive reviews, the judges who included guest judge Paula Abdul only gave Kirstie 30 out of 40 points.

Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas danced a Rock and Roll routine and Bruno Tonioli said she was "hitting all the steps." Paula chimed in, "It looks like you're starting to have fun. I'm proud of you." The reality TV star earned 32, saving her from being on the bottom of the scoreboard for another week.

Sabrina Bryan danced a Disco with Louis Van Amstel, bringing a nostalgic feeling especially to Len. "I'm back. It's 1978," the judge said, calling the performance "fabulous." Bruno said she lost timing twice, but Carrie Ann disagreed. Paula added, "It was fantastic." The former Disney star got 35.5.

Emmitt Smith oozed sexiness during his Bolero routine with Cheryl Burke. Paula gushed, "It was sensual. You are a sexy beast," and Carrie Ann stated a similar opinion. Len also liked it as saying, "Bolero is flow... And I thought you coped." The former NFL player earned 36.

Gilles Marini set the bar higher with his Bollywood number. "That was beyond belief. Fantastic!" Carrie Ann enthused. Len added, "I know nothing about Bollywood dancing, but I know what I like. And I like this." The runner-up of season 8 got the first 10s of this season for a total score of 39.5.

Melissa Rycroft danced a Jitterbug. Len called her "class dancer" for showing "clean" and "correct" performance every time she danced. Bruno said it was "near perfection," as Paula praised the footwork. The TV host earned 37.

Shawn Johnson earned an almost perfect score of 39.5 with her stylish Mambo. "If I were the other contestants, I'd be a little scared of you right now," Carrie Ann gushed. Bruno had nothing but praises, "Sexy! Mesmerizing! Out of this world!" and Len simply said he liked it.

Apolo Anton Ohno danced a Hip-Hop number with a couple of mishaps during the performance. His microphone pack fell off and his pro-dancer partner Karina Smirnoff slipped. She cried after the dance ended, but the judges seemingly had their focuses on Apolo. "You were out there smoking! Karina, to be honest, I wasn't even looking at you, so I don't care," Len said, as Paula commented, "Kudos to you... You've got the swagger." The speedskater earned 34.5.

Despite having a broken toe, Kelly Monaco still managed to dance a contemporary number that night. "It was such a beautiful routine," Paula said, while Carrie Ann added, "What makes it amazing... Is to be truly in touch with your emotion." The soap opera star got 37.5.

This week's result show will air Tuesday, October 16 at 8 P.M., an hour earlier than usual. Next week, meanwhile, there will be no elimination and all contestants will dance in one-hour shows on Monday and Tuesday.
