Solange Knowles Weighs In on Fiona Apple's War With Texas Cops

The ex-Destiny's Child who was born in Texas apologizes to Fiona on behalf of her state, thinking that it's unprofessional for Texas Sheriff's Dept. to add such a snarky note to their open letter.

AceShowbiz - Solange Knowles came to Fiona Apple's defense. The former Destiny's Child member was not impressed by the way Texas Sheriff's Dept. wrote their open letter to Fiona. "Only in Texas would a Sheriff write an open letter to an artist & send it to press starting w the words, 'First, Honey'," she commented.

"On behalf of my state, #SorryFiona," the Texas native added in a series of messages, "Just goes to show so clearly these cops luv ego-tripp'n & use all the folks he so proudly mentions in his letter...to pet their pussy-cats. I especially love the part when the cop says 'Im already more famous than you'. #cuntycops #shwerkit."

Fiona previously claimed the Texas cops who arrested her may have done something "illegal" when they detained her. "I heard everything you did," she said in her concert. "I wrote it all down with your names, and everything you did and said, stupidly thinking that I couldn't hear or see you. ... Unless you're interested in being a celebrity, I'll make you f***ing famous any time you ask."

In response, Rusty Fleming, a spokesperson for Hudspeth County Sheriff's Dept. in Sierra Blanca, Texas, issued a response encouraging her to file an official complaint if she did suspect any wrongdoing during the arrest. Along with the letter, there was an additional snarky note from Fleming urging Fiona to "just shut-up and sing."

The rep began, "First- Honey, I'm already more famous than you, I don't need your help. However, it would appear that you need mine. Have you ever heard of Snoop [Dogg], Willie [Nelson] or Armand Hammer? Maybe if you would read something besides your own press releases, you would have known BEFORE you got here, that if you come to Texas with dope, the cops will take your DOPE away and put YOU in jail."

"Even though you and I only met briefly in the hallway, I don't know you but I'm sure you're an awesome and talented young woman," he added. "I'm sure that [your fans] would just as soon you get this all behind you and let you go back to what you do best - so my last piece of advice is simple 'just shut-up and sing.' Sincerely, Rusty Fleming."

When asked to comment on Solange's criticizing remarks, Fleming told E! News, "I am not trying to get into any pissing contests with anyone." The representative continued, "My statement stands for itself. And by the way, I'm not a cop. I had nothing to do with Fiona's arrest."

Fiona was arrested at a border stop in Sierra Blanca, Texas. Police found .01 lbs. of marijuana and .010 lbs. of hashish in her tour bus when she and her entourage were pulled over for a routine inspection. There were seven other people in the bus, but they were let go after she "freely admitted that the controlled substances belonged to her."
