AceShowbiz - Josh Groban made a surprise performance at 2012 Primetime Emmy Awards for an unconventional tribute segment. The operatic pop singer played a piano while delivering a rendition of One Direction's bubble hit single "What Makes You Beautiful" to help Jimmy Kimmel pay homage to himself.
"I think it's a shame that we wait to do this (in-memoriam tribute) until after our legends pass. It's important to celebrate the living too, so tonight I'd like you to join me in paying tribute to the life and work of someone all of us, someone every person in this room admires, respects and loves," the host said before Josh belted out the song.
As Josh sang, clips from "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" throughout the years were shown. They included Jimmy's bathroom scene with Oprah Winfrey, a September 2009 montage featuring Matt Damon walking off the set because the show ran out of time, and Jimmy's "romantic" scene with Ben Affleck.
"I'd like to apologize to Matt Damon. We run out of time," Jimmy said his trademark apology before Josh wrapped it up by crooning, "Sorry Matt Damon."
