Rep: Paris Hilton Didn't Intend to Make Derogatory Comments on Gays
Celebrity

Although her voice was clearly heard in a recorded tape calling gay men 'disgusting', a rep of the socialite said she was addressing the danger of unprotected sex.

AceShowbiz - Paris Hilton was ready to be the new enemy of the LGBT community but her representative has backtracked the comment she made about gay guys. "Paris Hilton's comments were to express that it is dangerous for anyone to have unprotected sex that could lead to a life-threatening disease," her representative told ABCNews.com.

Hilton was caught on tape using gay slurs while talking to her openly gay friend in a cab driving in NYC. The driver of the cab taped the conversation in which they discussed the new smart phone app Grindr that allows gay men to meet and hook up. "Ew, ew," Hilton said, adding "Gay guys are the horniest people in the world. They're disgusting. Dude, most of them probably have AIDS ...I would be so scared if I was a gay guy. You'll like, die of AIDS."

In an attempt to clarify Hilton's statement, the rep said that there was a part of conversation that was omitted. "The conversation became heated, after a close gay friend told her in a cab ride, a story about a gay man who has AIDS and is knowingly having unprotected sex," the spokesperson said. "He also discussed a website that encourages random sex by gay men with strangers. As she was being shown the website, her comments were in reference to those people promoting themselves on the site. The cab driver who recorded this, only provided a portion of the conversation."

The rep continued, "It was not her intent to make any derogatory comments about all gays. Paris Hilton is a huge supporter of the gay community and would never purposefully make any negative statements about anyone's sexual orientation."
