Saying that 'the creation of the team [in the first movie] is not happy ending,' the 'Much Ado About Nothing' helmer plans to 'dig a little deeper' and 'twist that knife' for the 'Avengers' sequel.

AceShowbiz - Joss Whedon has recently been busy promoting his indie film "Much Ado About Nothing" at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival. Still, he managed to take some time to discuss his upcoming big project with Marvel Studios/Walt Disney Pictures, "The Avengers 2".
Speaking to Canadian site 24 Hours, the filmmaker who brought "The Avengers" into a massive success opened up about his idea for the much awaited sequel. He related the story to the forming of the Earth's Mightiest Heroes in the first film, saying, "The creation of the team is not happy ending."
"It is the beginning of something that is complex and difficult, and now I get to dig a little deeper," the New Yorker teased without revealing further about the plot of the second movie. "And maybe, while I'm digging, just twist that knife. And that's exciting for me."
Speaking of Marvel's projects, Whedon, who also serves as a creative adviser on Marvel's "Phase 2", explained his "overseer" duty. He said, "Very talented people are writing and directing these movies, and what I don't want to be is the guy they dread, who's going to come in and say - here, Whedon affects a pompous British accent - 'Oh, well I have the power to say change this.' I'm not that."
The "Avengers" talk aside, Whedon has found a perfect studio that would distribute his Shakespeare movie "Much Ado About Nothing" while in Toronto. On Tuesday, September 11, Lionsgate Films officially announced that it had obtained the rights to the film, but hadn't decided when it would release the flick Stateside.
"We're so happy to once again be working with Joss Whedon after our great experience on 'The Cabin in the Woods'," said Jason Constantine, President of Acquisitions and Co-Productions. "Who else can tackle horror, superheroes and Shakespeare all in one year? We look forward to working closely with Bellwether Pictures to help audiences discover this wonderful and timeless comedy."
Whedon himself couldn't be happier with the new partnership. "I'm thrilled to be working with my cronies at Lionsgate again, and with 'The Roadside' team. That they all embrace a Shakespearean romance with the same enthusiasm they had for 'Cabin in the Woods' shows that they're exactly the mad fools we want to be partying - I mean working - with," so he gushed.
