WWE announcer Jerry Lawler collapsed on stage while calling a match on Monday, September 10 live telecast of Monday Night Raw in Montreal. The 62-year-old suffered a heart attack but is now in stable condition in a cardiac care unit, his rep said.

Former pro-wrestler Lawler, who is also known as The King, slumped over his ringside table approximately 30 minutes after wrestling and while providing commentary. An EMT got up the ring and began CPR before moving him to backstage on a stretcher. He was taken to a nearby hospital where a surgery was performed.

"Jerry 'The King' Lawler suffered a heart attack while commentating during last night's broadcast of Monday Night Raw in Montreal. We are hopeful Jerry makes a full recovery and returns to WWE in the near future. Our thoughts are with Jerry and his family," a statement from WWE read.

His ex-wife Stacy Carter wrote on Twitter that Lawler had a stint and balloon put inside him. She also said he was still heavily sedated as of press time.
