'I sent him [Lars von Trier] videotapes of me and my girlfriend having sex and that's how I got the job,' so LaBeouf says of how he gets cast in the Danish director's much-talked-about erotic drama.

AceShowbiz - After sparking frenzy for revealing that he would do real sex for Lars von Trier's erotic drama "The Nymphomaniac", Shia LaBeouf opened up about how he got cast for the movie. In a recent TV interview with Chelsea Handler, the "Transformers" actor admitted that he actually sent the Danish director his sex tapes with stylist girlfriend Karolyn Pho to get the role in the much-talked-about film.

When Handler asked about his involvement in the von Trier project, LaBouf explained, "I don't know what it's gonna be until I get out there." He went on, "I know he's [von Trier] a very dangerous director, I know we're trying to do something different. It's not your typical film. It's about what it's about."

Urged further to reveal how he snatched the sexy role, the lead actor of "The Company You Keep" casually answered, "I sent him videotapes of me and my girlfriend having sex and that's how I got the job." Still, it was unclear if the long-haired actor was serious about it or not.

LaBeouf grabbed the headline a few weeks ago after telling MTV News, "[The movie] is what you think it is." He said of the "x-rated" scene, "It is Lars von Trier, making a movie about what he's making. For instance, there's a disclaimer at the top of the script that basically says we're doing it for real. Everything that is illegal, we'll shoot in blurred images. Other than that, everything is happening."

"Nymphomaniac" itself is a wild and poetic story of a woman's erotic journey from birth to the age of 50 as told by the main character, the self-diagnosed nymphomaniac, Joe. On a cold winter's evening the old, charming bachelor, Seligman, finds Joe beaten up in an alleyway.

He brings her home to his flat where he tends to her wounds while asking her about her life. He listens intently as Joe over the next 8 chapters recounts the lushly branched-out and multi faceted story of her life, rich in associations and interjecting incidents.

The film also stars Charlotte Gainsbourg, Stellan Skarsgard, Jamie Bell and Connie Nielsen.
