AceShowbiz - The 69th annual Venice Film Festival was officially kicked off on Wednesday, August 29. Serving as the opener for the international-caliber event was Mira Nair's "The Reluctant Fundamentalist". The 9/11 drama held its world premiere at the Palazzo del Cinema with its leading actress Kate Hudson being the center of the spotlight.

Hudson became the belle of the ball with her flawless look in a champagne-colored lacy gown. She arranged her silky blond hair into an elegant updo and teamed her Atelier Versace dress with an Edie Parker clutch and Faberge jewelries.

The daughter of Goldie Hawn was joined by fiance Matthew Bellamy, who looked dapper in three-piece black suit completed with a bowtie and round-framed shades. The two seemed so inseparable from each other, and at one point, the Muse frontman was photographed smooching his beautiful partner.

Joining Hudson on the red carpet was co-star Liev Schreiber, who brought along his partner Naomi Watts. Schreiber oozed masculinity in a formal tux, holding hands with Watts as they stepped on the red carpet. Sporting natural makeup and daring red lips, she looked stunning in a nude-colored mermaid dress.

Other guests spotted at the prestigious event were French actress/model Laetitia Casta who glammed up in a floor-length black gown, Polish actress/model Kasia Smutniak who looked daring in a red number, Italian actress/singer Violante Placido who oozed sexiness in a maroon tube dress, and Lebanese actress/director Nadine Labaki who dazzled in a sheer black gown.

"The Reluctant Fundamentalist" is a novel-adapted movie about a young Pakistani whose Wall Street career turns upside down following the 9/11 tragedy. The movie is written by Mohsin Hamid, William Wheeler and Ami Boghani. As for this year's Venice Film Festival, the event will run through September 8. Such films as Paul Thomas Anderson's "The Master" and Terrence Malick's "To the Wonder" are also set to take part at the Italian festival.
