In addition to the 'Dance Again' singer-produced project 'The Fosters', the network greenlights 'Socio' from 'Jane by Design' executive producer Gavin Polone.

AceShowbiz - Jennifer Lopez-produced family show has been picked up to pilot by ABC Family. The project, whose working title is "The Fosters", is a one-hour drama revolving around a multi-ethnic family mix of foster and biological kids being raised by two moms Stef and Len.

Bradley Bredeweg and Peter Paige co-created the show, and will executive produce it alongside former "American Idol" judge Lopez, Simon Fields and Greg Gugliotta. The pilot will be produced by Nuyorican Productions and Prodco.

The network additionally gives a pilot order to Gavin Polone's one-hour drama "Socio". The project, which has been dubbed as having a "Dexter Jr" vibe, centers on a charismatic 16-year-old alleged sociopath, who recently reconnected with his two female best friends from childhood, and who becomes the prime suspect when a fellow student is murdered.

Polone will serve as executive producer along with Adam Milch ("Greek"), who also pens the script for the pilot. The pilot order comes just days after ABC Family decided to cancel Polone's "Jane by Design" after only one season.

Kate Juergens, the network's executive vp original programming and development, says, "ABC Family continues to find and develop original programming that adds new dimension and depth to the storytelling we offer." She gushes, "Both these shows are headed by wonderful executive producers who know the millennial space well and know how to connect with audiences."

ABC Family has recently renewed three series, "Switched at Birth", "Melissa & Joey" and "Baby Daddy". It also ordered additional episodes of "Bunheads" from "Gilmore Girls" creator Amy Sherman-Palladino.
