The rumor that Sam Clafin has been touted to take the role is confirmed as Lionsgate sealed the deal with the actor.

AceShowbiz - The role of Finnick Odair in "The Hunger Games" sequel has been filled. Sam Clafin, best known for playing William in "Snow White and the Huntsman", is joining "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" in the coveted role of District 4 tribute.

In Suzanne Collins' book, Finnick is described as a 24-year-old very handsome and tan skinned young man with bronze hair and stunning sea-green eyes. He is known for having many lovers in the Capitol. At the age of fourteen, he won the Hunger Games by using a trident and a net against other Tributes.

Calfin's name was already on top of the list to play the character last month. He finally struck the deal with Lionsgate on Wednesday, August 15. Veteran actress Lynn Cohen has been tapped to play Finnick's mentor Mags who later volunteers to replace Finnick's lover Annie Cresta at the 65th Annual Hunger Games.

"Catching Fire" hits theaters November 22, 2013. With the deal, Clafin is also slated to appear in both installments of the last movie, "Mockingjay".
