The 'City of New Orleans' hitmaker is taken to a hospital after 'suffering from breathing problems due to the high altitude and emphysema.'

AceShowbiz - Willie Nelson was unable to perform at a scheduled fund-raising concert in Castle Pines Village. The 79-year-old country music singer was forced to scrap his performance after "suffering from breathing problems due to the high altitude and emphysema."

9News reported that Willie was supposed to help raise funds for the Denver Dumb Friends League called Lulu's Barkin BBQ on August 18. His band and backup singers made it to the venue, but he was not. He reportedly was taken to a hospital nearby.

Last April on the day long reserved to celebrate marijuana use, Willie was honored with an eight-foot bronze statue of himself. The Country Music Hall of Famer unveiled the statue in front of the Moody Theater in downtown Austin, Texas.
