CBS Drops Lawsuit Against 'Glass House', Says Viewers Have Delivered Justice

August 18, 2012 (3:19 am) GMT
The Eye dismisses its claim that 'The Glass House' is a rip-off of 'Big Brother', but will continue with its contract and trade secrets lawsuit against some crew members.

CBS is no longer pursuing a legal action to stop the production of ABC's "" after the show delivers low ratings. "The viewers have spoken and delivered the ultimate form of justice against 'The Glass House'," so the Eye said in a statement released on Friday, August 17. "As a result, we filed in federal court this morning a voluntary dismissal without prejudice of our claims against ABC."

However, CBS will continue with its lawsuit against the "Glass House" producers. "The contract and trade secrets claims against former '' producers for violating their confidentiality agreements will continue separately in arbitration," the network added.

It further claimed, "We reserve the right to re-file this claim against ABC/'The Glass House', or any other entity, that goes to such shocking lengths to duplicate our copyright material."

CBS previously sought a temporary restraining order to prevent the premiere of "Glass House", which the network claimed to bear similarities to its own show "Big Brother". District Judge Gary A. Feess denied the Eye's request for TRO and the show debuted in June to only 4.18 million viewers. The new reality competition series has averaged 2.9 million viewers so far.
