Just in time for the release of "The Expendables 2", Variety shares the news that an all-female version of "The Expendables" is currently in the works. Producer Adi Shankar's 1984 Private Defense Contractor has agreed to back the female version of the star-studded actioner with Dutch Southern being tapped as the scribe.

Shankar's banner reportedly has already been in talks with some notable actresses in the action genre. However, details of those actresses who are approached to join the big project are still kept secret.

Fueling the report of the possible all-female "Expendables" is director Simon West who recently told E! News that he has set his eyes on several Hollywood leading ladies. "I like the idea of the Expenda-Belles where it's seven or eight women mercenaries," he said.

"It would be Angelina Jolie, Cameron Diaz, Milla Jovovich, the list goes on. Helen Mirren, Jamie Lee Curtis would be great." Terry Crews added, "I love Kate Beckinsale in 'Total Recall'. I would love to see Charlize Theron. She would be a sweet badass just doing some crazy stuff!"

West explained further that the female gang would not replace the Sylvester Stallone and co. in the franchise. "No, it would be running parallel," he said. "They would meet up and then they would fight and they would join up and save each other."

"The Expendables 2" has hit the U.S. theaters since Friday, August 17.
