A&E is axing its veteran reality series "Gene Simmons Family Jewels". After seven successful seasons, the network has officially announced that it wouldn't renew the show that follows the family of KISS' bassist and vocalist, Gene Simmons.

"For seven great seasons, Gene, Shannon, Nick and Sophie have been part of the A&E family, and we could not be more proud of the unparalleled run of Gene Simmons Family Jewels," A&E says in a statement released to The Hollywood Reporter. The network also thanks the "amazing family for their partnership, collaboration and for opening up their lives, warts-and-all, to us throughout the years."

Simmons adds, "With KISS on tour and with my other business commitments, we have decided to draw the final curtain on our show. It has been a wonderful, life-altering experience for our family, and after seven successful seasons, we feel it's time to move on... This is not the end of our story, it's the beginning of a new chapter."

The cancellation of "Gene Simmons Family Jewels" comes a few months after A&E made a decision to cancel another long-running reality show "Dog the Bounty Hunter" after eight seasons. The network is believed to be focusing on freshening its line-up with new scripted and unscripted programs.
