AceShowbiz - Minka Kelly channeled her inner first lady persona when stepping on the set of her upcoming film "The Butler". Hitting the set in New Orleans on Tuesday, August 14, Kelly was photographed rocking a full Jackie O. Kennedy costume complete with the iconic lady's signature bob brown hair, hat as well as elegant formal dress and pearl necklace.
Kelly was joined by James Marsden, who was caught on camera looking spiffy in his portrayal of the 35th President of the United States, John F. Kennedy. He donned a sleek collared shirt and tie while carrying his black tux on a hanger.
Based on Wil Haygood's Washington Post article, "A Butler Well Served by This Election", "The Butler" centers on the life of Eugene Allen, who started his career in the White House as a "pantry man" in 1952. At that time, black people weren't allowed to use public restrooms in his native Virginia.
Allen ended up serving eight presidents throughout his career and had a unique front row seat as political and racial history was made, from the Vietnam War and the civil rights movement to the assassinations of Martin Luther King Jr., Robert Kennedy Jr. and President John F. Kennedy.
Aside from Kelly and Marsden, the true story movie is supported by a host of famous stars such as Forest Whitaker, Alex Pettyfer, Oprah Winfrey, Jane Fonda, John Cusack, Alan Rickman, Robin Williams, Terrence Howard, Cuba Gooding Jr., Lenny Kravitz and David Oyelowo among others. Tackling the helming and screenwriting duties is Lee Daniels.
Daniels once opened up that making the biopic was one of his passion project. "I connected with it because it is ultimately a father son story with a civil rights backdrop," he shared. "In my lifetime there were separate water fountains, pools and toilets for blacks. People forget that. This is such an exciting journey for me."
