Action Veterans Ooze Masculinity at 'Expendables 2' Madrid Premiere
Movie

Jason Statham, Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren are all on hand to promote the actioner in Spain, but Sylvester Stallone skips the event following the death of his son Sage.

AceShowbiz - Before being premiered in the United States, "The Expendables 2" threw its special screening in Madrid, Spain on Wednesday, August 8. Taking place at Callao Cinema, the red carpet event was attended by such action veterans as Jason Statham, Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren.

Statham looked very sleek in a two-piece gray suit that he paired with a matching tie and aviator shades, while Lundgren looked dapper in a tieless collared shirt under his formal tux. On the other hand, Van Damme oozed masculinity in a casual white shirt and matching pants that he paired with a gray blazer.

At one point, Van Damme was spotted taking off his blazer and showing off his martial art skill in front of the photographers. He was also photographed on the red carpet acting as if his wife Gladys Portugues has beaten him off.

The promotional event was unfortunately not attended by the film's leading man Sylvester Stallone, who was still grieving over the death of his son Sage Stallone. Commenting on his co-star's absence, Lundgren told reporters, "Something like that is so severe. You can't really do anything. I sent him a handwritten note. I contributed to a charity for his kid."

"He knows we're thinking about him," Lundgren continued. "He knows us. He knows our prayers go out to him. But what are you going to do? I have two kids. And all you can do is hug your kids and go thank God it didn't happen to you."

To open in the U.S. on August 17, the sequel to 2010's "The Expendables" also stars the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Jet Li, Chuck Norris, Terry Crews, Randy Couture and Liam Hemsworth. The star-studded movie is helmed by Simon West with Stallone co-writing the script.
