At least one of the candidates has confirmed that he's in the running of becoming "American Idol" judge. Nick Jonas, whose name appeared last month as one of the wanted, said he is indeed being considered to replace Steven Tyler who quit after two seasons.

"The rumors are true," Nick wrote on Twitter Saturday, August 4. "I am being considered to be a judge on American Idol. And it would be a dream come true if it happens. #nickonidol." Us Weekly which first reported Jonas' involvement quoted a source as saying, "[American Idol producers] think he can help bring that younger demo to the show".

The 19-year-old singer was reportedly flown to Los Angeles for a meeting in July and was very close to signing a deal. If the talks went through, then Nick will be sitting next to Mariah Carey who has struck the deal. Beside Nick, Pharrell Williams is also a contender to join the panel.

Nick's older brother Joe Jonas has guest-judged on an episode of "American Idol" during the auditions in Dallas.
