Don Cheadle Reveals Tony Stark and Rhodey's Conflict Over Patriot Suit in 'Iron Man 3'

'I think that's kind of the tension that is created for Tony and for Rhodey, because like who's really got the stick,' says Cheadle of what will happen after War Machine gets his new armor.

AceShowbiz - Tony Stark and his BFF Rhodey will likely face off against each other in "Iron Man 3". The tension will be rising between them because of jealousy over a certain suit, according to Don Cheadle. The said suit itself is none other than the much-talked-about "Iron Patriot armor", which has previously been teased in several on-set photos.

Speaking to MTV News, Cheadle explains how problems will spark after Rhodey a.k.a War Machine gets his new patriotic armor. "We've got a private sector and a public sector, or rather a military version of Iron Man," he says. "And I think there is a desire from the powers that be to make sure that those things are distinguished and distinguishable so that we know where everybody stands."

Cheadle elaborates further that Stark won't be happy to know that his best friend is granted the government-issued iron suit. "I think that's kind of the tension that is created for Tony and for Rhodey, because like who's really got the stick, and who really gets to decide what happens in certain situations? And that's what will be a lot of fun to explore in this film too," the actor opens up.

Back in June, words ran rampant that Iron Patriot would appear in the third armored hero movie. However, Latino Review reported that time that the Norman Osborn-created character would not be involved in the upcoming movie. The site also confirmed that the white man seen donning the armor on set was not James Badge Dale, but a stunt double for Cheadle, whose character would have a new suit in the third film.

Bringing back Robert Downey Jr. as the titular superhero, "Iron Man 3" will hit the U.S. cinemas on May 3, 2013.
