Anne Hathaway Would Do a Catwoman Spin-Off 'With the Right People'

Hathaway is interested to star in a standalone film for Selina Kyle based on her performance in 'The Dark Knight Rises', but noting that she would only do it with director Christopher Nolan.

AceShowbiz - After playing Selina Kyle a.k.a Catwoman in "The Dark Knight Rises", Anne Hathaway is apparently interested to reprise the iconic role once again. In an interview with Digital Spy, the 29-year-old actress opens up that she would love to work on a standalone film for Catwoman only if director Christopher Nolan is on board.

"I think it would be lovely to see more of her but only if it's with the right people," so Hathaway states. "She lives in this Gotham City and so it would have to be established by the people who have made this Gotham City. For me, at least."

On playing the femme fatale, the New York native explains that she didn't really take inspiration from previous actresses who have played the character. Those stars include Michelle Pfeiffer who portrayed the cat burglar in Tim Burton's "Batman Returns" and Halle Berry who starred as the DC anti-hero in 2004's "Catwoman".

"I didn't want to focus on the other people's interpretation of it because I didn't see where that would get me; it would only be a rehashing of something already done - and done very well," Hathaway says. "I thought it was probably best to focus on being a part of Chris Nolan's Gotham City."

Nolan himself once said that Hathaway deserved to get her own Catwoman spin-off thanks to her performance in "Dark Knight Rises". Speaking of the director, the "Rachel Getting Married" star gushes, "He's lovely! He trusts us all to do our homework and come in with ideas."

"You have to come in by and large knowing what you're going to do but, if you get stuck, he'll give you the time to figure it out," she goes on. "He'll ask you the perfect question that all of a sudden makes your brain explode and you see the scene in 10,000 new ways."

Released on July 20, "The Dark Knight Rises" successfully opens to $160.9 million, marking the best debut ever for a 2D movie and the third-biggest opening of all time.
