Christopher Nolan called the shooting 'savage,' while Hans Zimmer didn't know what to say to express his devastation as saying, 'Words become meaningless because it's so beyond anything.'

AceShowbiz - Christopher Nolan, the man behind the lens of "The Dark Knight Rises", is devastated by the shooting that killed 12 moviegoers and injured more than 50 others in a Colorado theater. Hans Zimmer, who scored for the movie, is equally saddened by the tragedy.
The 41-year-old director said in a statement, "Speaking on behalf of the cast and crew of 'The Dark Knight Rises', I would like to express our profound sorrow at the senseless tragedy that has befallen the entire Aurora community."
He continued, "I would not presume to know anything about the victims of the shooting but that they were there last night to watch a movie. I believe movies are one of the great American art forms and the shared experience of watching a story unfold on screen is an important and joyful pastime."
"The movie theatre is my home, and the idea that someone would violate that innocent and hopeful place in such an unbearably savage way is devastating to me," he added. "Nothing any of us can say could ever adequately express our feelings for the innocent victims of this appalling crime, but our thoughts are with them and their families."
Zimmer, meanwhile, told Rolling Stone, "We're all devastated by what's happened. When we set up this interview, we didn't know that things would change. I was going to send a note to Chris [Nolan] ... but I didn't have the words. Suddenly, words become meaningless because it's so beyond anything. Devastated, I suppose, is the word."
The Oscar-winning composer said he was shocked when first hearing about the news. "God, I don't know. I'm over in London right now - and I'm completely confused about time," he said. "It's just sad. Here we are, we were trying to celebrate this movie and celebrating that we'd finished it and then this happened. I just feel so incredibly sad for these people."
24-year-old James Holmes was identified as the gunman who did the massacre at the midnight screening of the movie. The Aurora Police Department said the former medical student from University of Colorado was in possession of an AR-15, a Remington 870 shotgun and a 40 caliber glock handgun when he was arrested.
President Obama vowed to seek justice for the victims and their families. "The federal government will do whatever is necessary to bring this heinous crime to justice. We will take every step possible to ensure the safety of all of our people. We will stand by our neighbors in Colorado," he said.
