The John Blake of 'The Dark Knight Rises' writes an open letter to criticize the magazine for writing that Dan Gordon-Levitt 'died of an alleged drug overdose in 2010.'

AceShowbiz - Joseph Gordon-Levitt is upset with GQ magazine for picking on his late brother. Joe, who appears on the cover of the magazine's August issue, is unhappy over the "factually incorrect" representation of Dan Gordon-Levitt in the cover story article that was penned by Amy Wallace.
The quote in the article that angered the "Inception" actor is "The elder Gordon-Levitt died of an alleged drug overdose in 2010. 'It was an accident' is all Joe will say about that." Taking to his Tumblr, the 31-year-old thesp posts, "I'm writing this because I have a problem with what their article says about my brother. I'll be honest, it really made me feel terrible."
Joe goes on claiming that he's disappointed by the wrong allegation the writer made about his late big brother, who was then known as BURNING dAN. "Using the word 'alleged' technically allows the writer to say whatever she wants. The 'allegations' to which she must be referring were made by a handful of gossip websites," he writes.
"They are factually incorrect according to the coroner's office and the police department," so Joe insists. "I don't like publicly speaking about my brother's death, but I'm making an exception to correct this irresponsible claim."
The Los Angeles native opens up that he's already asked the writer not to discuss the death of his brother in the article. "By the way, while I asked the writer not to dwell on how he died, I did say quite a bit about how he lived, and how much he means to me," he states.
Remembering Dan as a good person, Joe recalls, "Dan was a brightly positive, genuinely caring, and brilliantly inspiring person, and I liked the idea of such a wide readership learning about him." He adds, "My parents and I are disappointed with what the article chose to focus on regarding this sensitive subject."
Dan died in October 2010 and the cause of his death was not made public by his family. At that time, some gossip sites began speculating that drugs were involved in his death. Still, the Gordon-Levitts chose to keep it private until GQ mentions the story on its cover story this month.
Despite feeling disappointed by the news print, the John Blake of "The Dark Knight Rises" manages to thank the GQ team for making him the model on their cover. "I'd like to thank both of the Jims and everyone else at GQ for putting me on the cover of their magazine this month. That kind of exposure is a huge help to all the work I love to do, and I'm deeply appreciative," he writes.
GQ has yet to respond to Joe's open letter.
