First Look at Ben Whishaw as the New Q in 'Skyfall'
Movie

Whishaw is the first Q depicter in the history of the James Bond movie franchise who is younger than the 007 agent himself.

AceShowbiz - How Ben Whishaw will look like as Q in "Skyfall" has been uncovered in form of a newly released still from the upcoming James Bond film. Sporting a nerdy look, the iconic gadget guru is pictured working with what looks like a briefcase while Daniel Craig's Bond is watching him from behind.

In the Ian Fleming original 007 novels, Q is described as the head of Q Division, a research and development branch of the British Secret Service. The character was last seen in 2002's "Die Another Day" and was portrayed by John Cleese. The actor took over the role from veteran thesp Desmond Llewelyn, who played Q for the previous 36 years.

With Whishaw filling the shoes that's left by Cleese, the 31-year-old actor will be the first Q depicter who is younger than Bond himself in the history of the 007 film franchise. Welcoming the return of the character in the franchise, producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli said, "It's a real thrill to confirm the return of Q in SKYFALL played by the enormously talented, Ben Whishaw. We are delighted to have this beloved character back in the series."

"Skyfall" will find Bond in a troublesome situation as his loyalty to M is tested when her past comes back to haunt her. Craig returns as the 007 agent after tackling the prestigious role in both "Casino Royale" and "Quantum of Solace". He is also joined by Judi Dench, Javier Bardem, Albert Finney, Ralph Fiennes and Naomie Harris.

The 23rd Bond movie is slated for a November 9 release in the United States.
