Though 20th Century Fox is a no-show during this year's SDCC, reports about the studio's upcoming projects are spread widely including news about a new film called 'Rust'.

AceShowbiz - 20th Century Fox is absent during this year's San Diego Comic-Con, but that doesn't mean the studio has no upcoming geek-worthy projects on its slate. During the annual convention, several news about Fox's forthcoming superhero films have run wild including the updates on the long-gestating "Fantastic Four" and "Daredevil" reboots.

Courtesy of Deadline, it has been reported that the untitled New Fantastic Four project has officially tapped "Chronicle" helmer Josh Trank as its director. Though Trank has been offered and attached to some new gigs post-"Chronicle", it is said that Fox wants the filmmaker to make "Fantastic Four" reboot his next directorial effort.

The new "Fantastic Four" film, which will include a whole new cast members, is confirmed as Fox's next Marvel property to be set for production. The project has been delayed for a while since the studio had to focus on other Marvel pics, including last year's "X-Men: First Class" and upcoming "The Wolverine".

While "Fantastic Four" has found its helmer, the untitled Daredevil project hasn't since David Slade decided to exit the gig. According to Deadline, Fox is also in danger to lose its property for the "Daredevil" reboot if the long-gestating project is still not underway by fall. If it happens, the rights will revert to Marvel and Walt Disney Pictures.

In addition to "Fantastic Four" and "Daredvil", Fox has a new project in development called "Rust". The film is described as "an E.T.-style story" which script is written by Aline Brosh McKenna. Fox has hired "Attack the Block" helmer Joe Cornish to serve behind the lens.

Aimed at a family audience, "Rust" is based on a novel by Royden Lepp which tells a story about "a struggling farm family and the mysterious robot that shows up and changes their lives." Serving as the producers for the sci-fi adventure movie is Simon Kinberg through his Genre Films banner.
