AceShowbiz - TV legend Andy Griffith passed away at his home in Dare County, North Carolina on Tuesday, July 3 morning about 7 A.M. He was 86.
According to the Dare County Sherrif's office, Griffith was taken to a local hospital after EMS responded to a call for help. Griffith's close friend, former UNC president Bill Friday, confirmed his death. Meanwhile, representatives of Griffith have not issued a statement.
Meanwhile, his "The Andy Griffith Show" co-star Ron Howard has sent his condolences via Twitter, writing "His pursuit of excellence and the joy he took in creating served generations & shaped my life I'm forever grateful RIP Andy."
Beside a TV star, Griffith was also a Grammy-winning gospel singer. He was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by George W. Bush in 2005.
