The actor husband of Katie Holmes brings his little daughter as his date, and hopes Jerry Lewis get well soon when delivering his speech after collecting Entertainment Icon Award.

AceShowbiz - Tom Cruise brought a special lady as his date for a gala dinner at the Friars Club on Tuesday night, June 12. The "Rock of Ages" star was accompanied by his six-year-old daughter Suri since his wife Katie Holmes was unable to attend the event. He reportedly "brought coloring books and crayons for her."

In addition to having Suri, Tom brought 17-year-old Connor whom he adopted with his then-wife Nicole Kidman. The little girl wore a pink ball gown, a red scarf and a pair of gold heels. Her father and her brother, meanwhile, suited up for the occasion.

"Suri loved being in her dad's arms, and when she wasn't there, she was in brother Connor's arms," a witness told Us Weekly. Before entering the venue, "Suri and Connor also decided to hide out in a back corner of the press room to watch their dad work the line [of reporters]. It was very cute."

Tom accepted Entertainment Icon Award that night. "[Katie's] in China working," he said in his acceptance speech. "The women are all working. So Suri is my date this evening. Suri, thank you. My son Connor is [also] here. You guys really inspire me."

Tom was supposed to receive the prize from Jerry Lewis, but the comedian fell ill. While delivering his speech, the "Mission Impossible" actor took time to show his support for the funnyman, "I am sorry Jerry couldn't be here tonight, but I know he is going to be fine."

86-year-old Jerry collapsed due to low blood sugar and was rushed to hospital just before he took the stage to present Tom with the award. In addition to serving as a presenter, the comedian was set to get his own honor, Applause Award.

A representative for the Friars Club told the New York Post, "Jerry Lewis was so sorry to miss the Icon Award presentation to Tom Cruise last night, but is feeling much better today, and is back at his hotel and thanks everyone for their good wishes."

Jerry was released later that night.
