Adele Regains No. 1 on Billboard 200, Holds Off Alan Jackson

The British artist's album '21' scores its 24th victory on the chart, while the country music singer's latest effort 'Thirty Miles West' debuts at No. 2.

Adele's "21" snatches the first position on Billboard 200 for its 24th non-consecutive time. The second studio installment by the "Someone Like You" hitmaker sells another 75,000 copies 68 weeks after debuting atop the chart in February 2011, showing a 30|percent| increase from last week.

It marks the first time an artist reaches such milestone since Prince & The Revolution's "Purple Rain" soundtrack did so in 1985. Additionally, the Grammy-winning record is among eight albums that have ruled the chart for at least 24 weeks.

Adele accordingly blocks Alan Jackson from taking the throne. "Thirty Miles West", which is the seventeenth studio installment by the "Love's Got a Hold on You" singer, debuts at No. 2 by selling 73,000. The number, however, is enough to lead the country music artist to rule the Top Country Albums chart.

Trailing behind Jackson are some other new entries. The Beach Boys' "That's Why God Made the Radio" debuts at No. 3 by selling 61,000 copies, Neil Young's "Americana" secures the fourth place after selling 44,000 copies in its first week, and Big K.R.I.T.'s debut album "Live From the Underground" enters at No. 5 (41,000).

One Direction's "Up All Night", meanwhile, slips to No. 6 with 40,000 copies (down 4|percent|). John Mayer's "Born and Raised" falls from No. 1 to No. 7 with 39,000 copies (down 41|percent|). At No. 8, Curren$y scores his highest charting set yet with his seventh studio album "The Stoned Immaculate" which sells 36,000 copies in its first week.

Rounding up the top 10 are Carrie Underwood's "Blown Away", which falls from No. 6 to No. 9 (27,000 copies, down 13|percent|), and Brandi Carlile's "Bear Creek", which debuts at No. 10 with a little over 27,000.
