The actor, who plays Dewey Riley in 'Scream' movie series, is self-represented in the divorce and is seeking legal and physical custody of his daughter with Courteney.

AceShowbiz - David Arquette has finally submitted a petition to officially end his longtime marriage with actress Courteney Cox. He filed the divorce papers at Los Angeles Superior Court on Friday, June 8, before he went overseas to have a bar mitzvah ceremony at Jerusalem's Western Wall on Monday.

The Dewey Riley of "Scream" doesn't have a lawyer, which means he represents himself. The 40-year-old actor cites "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the divorce. He mentions December 31, 2011 as the separation date, although he and Courteney announced their separation in October 2010.

The paperwork indicated that David had been holding onto the divorce papers for nearly three months since he signed the documents on March 23 this year. He's seeking legal and physical custody of their daughter, Coco Riley Arquette, who is going to turn 8 years old on June 13. He did not ask for spousal or child support.

David Arquette and Courteney Cox met on the set of "Scream" in 1996, and got married in 1999. When announcing their split two years ago, the couple said in a joint statement, "The reason for this separation is to better understand ourselves and the qualities we need in a partner and for our marriage."

He later confessed to Howard Stern about his affair with Jasmine Waltz and revealed that he and Courteney hadn't had sex for quite some time. Courteney "got really pissed" at him for "sharing too much," and he apologetically said, "She had a right to get upset about some of the personal details."
