Words are, the 'Capote' actor has been offered to play the new Head Gamemaker of The Hunger Games who masterminds the plan to break the tributes out of the arena.

AceShowbiz - While it hasn't tapped an actor to tackle the coveted role of Finnick Odair, "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" might be close to find its Plutarch Heavensbee. It has been reported that Philip Seymour Hoffman has been approached to play the new Head Gamemaker.

The scoop was first broken by Variety's Jeff Snider who wrote on Twitter, "PHILLIP SEYMOUR HOFFMAN offered the role of PLUTARCH HEAVENSBEE in The Hunger Games sequel CATCHING FIRE!" Still, he noted, "Lionsgate had no comment."

Deadline also added fuel to the rumor by claiming that it has heard the words that the Art Howe of "Moneyball" has been offered to take the big part. However, representative for the Oscar-winning actor has yet to confirm the report.

In the Suzanne Collins second book of the "Hunger Games" series, Heavensbee is the new gamemaker after Seneca Crane was executed. He is described as the leader of the rebellion movement in the Districts, and also the mastermind behind the plan to break the tributes out of the arena.

To be directed by Francis Lawrence, "Catching Fire" has been scheduled to open in the U.S. on November 22, 2013. It will bring back Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth as Katniss Everdeen, Peeta Mellark and Gale Hawthorne respectively.

In the sequel to "The Hunger Games", Katniss and Peeta are getting punished for their defiance. They will be forced to compete in a special 75th staging of the Hunger Games, where they must fight against past winners.
