'Amazing Spider-Man' producers Avi Arad and Matthew Tolmach also open up that the upcoming antihero movie will feature a more grounded Eddie Brocks.

AceShowbiz - Columbia Pictures' antihero movie "Venom (2013)" may end up being developed in a similar approach to "The Amazing Spider-Man". Avi Arad and Matthew Tolmach, producers of Marc Webb's Spidey film, spilled that "Venom" could potentially tie into the Andrew Garfield-starring film, which is told in a realistic way and focuses on the untold story of the titular hero's origin.
"What I'm trying to say to you without giving anything away is hopefully all these worlds will live together in peace someday," so Tolmach told Hollywood. Arad added, "It's an Eddie Brock story. We want to be as close to the comics as possible. Especially in Eddie Brock's story. But again, pseudo-science is becoming science."
Arad continued, "All these tidbits about webs, artificial webs, is a huge industry now. Spiderwebs have unique qualities that will be huge for communications, fibers and so forth. So we have taken the approach that we want to make the huge amazing movie about Eddie." The producer also said that the commitment to reality and tangibility in "Amazing Spider-Man" will be a point of interest in "Venom".
The two producers went on dishing that Brock in "Venom" would be more grounded. "He was a journalist. He had the wrong story, he got in trouble for it, he got fired," said Tolmach. "The whole essence to us for the Marvel characters. Stay close to the bible, stay close to the emotional story, and the rest is fun."
The draft for "Venom" was written by Jacob Estes a few years ago, but the producers are reportedly looking for a new scribe to rewrite the script. "The Hunger Games" helmer Gary Ross was once tapped to direct it before he exited the project. It has been rumored that "Chronicle" filmmaker Josh Trank is eyed to replace Ross.
Venom first appeared in the Marvel comics as an alien costume worn by Spidey in "The Amazing Spider-Man" #252 in 1984. The creature later left Peter Parker before being found by Brock, who used it to form an antihero called Venom. Since then, Venom appeared in various different forms and bonded with several different hosts.
