Celebrity

The lead actress of 'Liz and Dick' shows no signs of intoxication and so does the other driver, so police approaches the collision as an 'accident investigation.'

AceShowbiz - Lindsay Lohan has been released from hospital after involved in a car accident with a dump truck, and now returns to work in the back of an SUV. Police is investigating who was at fault in the wreck that happened on a coastal highway near Los Angeles on Friday, June 8.

"Lindsay was involved in an automobile accident today on her way to the set. She was brought to Santa Monica UCLA hospital as a precaution," said her rep Steve Honig. "She is fine and was released less than two hours later and is already headed back to the set to resume work. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured in the accident."

Santa Monica police also issued a statement, "A preliminary investigation revealed that both vehicles were driving northbound on Pacific Coast Highway when the Porsche struck the rear end of the dump truck. Cause of the accident is under investigation."

"Investigators are attempting to determine the driver of the black Porsche at the time of the collision. Anyone with information regarding the collision is asked to contact Investigators Chris Dawson or Jason Olson at (310) 458-8954 or the Santa Monica Police Department (24 hours) at (310) 458-8495."

Lindsay was on her way to the "Liz & Dick" set in a rented Porche with a male passenger, who's said to be her assistant, when the accident with the 18-wheeler happened. The black sport car, which she's in, had significant damage to the windshield and front of it. She herself complained of pain and her companion had a minor injury, but nothing was serious.

"The driver of the truck received no injuries but Miss Lohan and [a] male passenger . . . suffered minor injuries and were taken to a local hospital via ambulance," Police Sgt. Richard Lewis told Us Weekly. Police is approaching the collision as an "accident investigation," since neither Lindsay nor the driver of the truck were believed to be driving under the influence. "There were no signs of impairment," he explained.

Last March, Lindsay was freed from her DUI probation stemming from her 2007 DUI case. After several trips to jail for probation violations, she was praised for dutifully completing all of her court-mandated tasks. In all, she has spent 250 days in rehab, 35 days in home confinement, 67 days on community service and 19 days in court.
