Lifetime Recasts Its Casey Anthony
TV

Virginia Welch is tapped to play the woman acquitted of murdering her 2-year-old daughter, replacing Holly DeVeaux who bows out of the TV movie project.

AceShowbiz - A week before the camera rolls for Lifetime's movie about Casey Anthony trial, the lead role has been recast. Virginia Welch is now set to portray the woman, who was put on trial in 2011 under allegations of murdering her 2-year-old daughter, after Holly DeVeaux dropped out of the project.

According to a source close to the production, Canadian actress DeVeaux's exit was a mutual decision. "Holly moved on and they recast the role," so the source claimed. "This is one of those decisions that happens all the time. Holly was good and very talented; it just didn't work."

There isn't much known about Welch except that she has starred in a number of independent films and commercials.

Other actors being cast on the TV movie known as "Prosecuting Casey Anthony" include "The Office" actor Oscar Nunez as defense attorney Jose Baez, as well as Kevin Dunn and Marina Stephenson Kerr as Anthony's parents George and Cindy Anthony. Additionally, Rob Lowe is tapped to play prosecutor Jeff Ashton.
